News: AAML Unanimously Endorses Resolution Strongly Opposing USDHS and USDHHS Policy of Separating Children from Parents

The Board of the Foundation of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers unanimously endorsed the Academy’s resolution strongly opposing the ongoing policies and actions of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services of forcibly separating children from their parents at the U.S. border regardless of their parents’ immigration status.

In addition, the Foundation’s Board proudly authorized a donation in the amount of $5,000 to Kids in Need of Defense, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which provides legal representation for the separated children, on behalf of the Foundation to support KIND’s incredible efforts to help separated immigrant children. The donation is being made in honor of Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich, the President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, for her support of those children, as President of the Academy and for her support of the Foundation.

The Foundation is able to make this contribution and our other grants through the phenomenal support of the contributions of the Academy’s Fellows.

KSFM’s Paul Smollar, Susan Friedman, and Armin (Rick) Kuder are proud members of the AAML.
